    Family reunification allows you to apply for the right to live in Belgium with your Belgian spouse. Regardless of where the partnership was entered into, there is a procedure for legally joining your Belgian spouse in Belgium.

    It doesn't matter whether the Belgian citizen has rented or owned a home: the main thing is to demonstrate that the accommodation is stable and suitable for cohabitation.

    The Belgian spouse does not need to have a full-time job to apply. They do, however, need to demonstrate that they have sufficient resources, whether in the form of professional income or unemployment benefit. And if the Belgian spouse doesn't earn enough, we explain how to argue even if the Belgian spouse's income is below the tax threshold.

    If your partnership has been registered in Germany, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden or the UK, it may be recognized by Belgium as equivalent to marriage.
