Bringing your child or grandchild to Belgium
The spouse of a Belgian citizen can apply for family reunification for their child or grandchild living abroad, provided they can prove a direct parent-child relationship, and meet certain conditions relating to accommodation and the child's interests.

It doesn't matter whether the household has rented or owned accommodation: the main thing is to demonstrate that the accommodation is stable and suitable for the child.

You don't (necessarily) need money
If the child joining you is a minor, no income is required. For children over 18, however, you need to show that they have sufficient resources, whether in the form of professional income or unemployment benefit.

Requirements
- Confirmation from the simulator or a legal expert at La Cour des Grands that the legal conditions for family reunification have been met.
- If the simulator referred you to a call for further analysis, this means that the conditions for family reunification were not perfectly met. The simulator is cautious and will stop you in your tracks as soon as a criterion is missing. If this is your case, we strongly advise you to book a call to confirm that the course offered on our platform will meet your expectations.

- This course is designed for Belgians who want their spouse's direct descendants to join them in Belgium. The spouse's direct descendants are the children and grandchildren. The spouse is the husband or wife, assimilated partner or legally registered partner (PACS, legal cohabitation) of a Belgian national.
